It was weird that she thought religion is male dominant. I guess it is true when you think about it, but most people never state that. Also they talked about the lack of enthusiasm in women in politics today. I do not know if I agree with that. It is true that there aren't many women in politics, but I do not think that is just because the lack of enthusiasm. I believe it is more how society is. Women are now thought of as homemakers and belong at home.

An issue that is important to me is AIDS awareness in the black community. I feel like AIDS and other sexually transmitted disease are a huge deal in the world, but most concerning is the high number of AIDS patients in the black community. I feel like black people need to do a better job in keeping themselves protected from this disease because HIV/AIDS cannot be cured. An organization that I like what they are doing is the National Black HIV/AIDs Awareness Day. Its an event that is held on August 7 and is a way that they go about in telling black people about the dangers of HIV/AIDs and things they can do to prevent the spreading of the disease. The best way is abstinence, but condoms are also a big help in preventing AIDS. I think that it is important for people to understand that the risk of getting HIV is real and it can happen to anyone. I know a lot of people don't believe it can ever happen to them or they say they do not like how condoms feel, but that is all bad reasons not to protect your body. You only have one life and need to protect it. Also getting tested is important so if you do have a disease you can take the proper steps to treat it. A lot of people do not want to know if they have HIV because they are nervous of hearing the bad news, but it is best to find out as early as possible. I would like to go to inner city schools and tell minority kids the risks or HIV and ways they can go about in protecting themselves.

Eternal Feminism
During my time reading the Eternal Feminism by Castellanos I noticed a few scenes the portrayed gender in a very significant way. The honeymoon scene stood out to me as the most epic scene that described feminism and gender in this play. I feel like this scene even holds true to today's standards. This scene showed how harshly men treat women and abuse their feelings, while making themselves feel greater than they are. It is not fair at all that women were not allowed to enjoy sex and could not question their men. On the other hand, the male was able to ask if it was her first time having sex and all other types of questions a woman would not dare to ask a man. Even nowadays it seems like males are like this. They expect to be able to ask their woman any question they choose, but when it comes time for them to answer, they are hesitant and question why they should have to answer to a women. I like women who can stand up for themselves and have their own opinions and goals in life. I would never enjoy telling a female what to do and what she could not do.
Castellano was shedding light to an everyday problem that he sees. He sees how men treat women everyday and how they feel like it is their right to the women and she is thought more of as property than a human-being. This reading is a comical way to look at things, but I feel that people should read this and understand that this is a problem. Men should not feel like they can take control of women or that they are better than women because that is not true. It was crazy for me to think that women were not able to enjoy sex as well. Nowadays if a women did not enjoy sex with her man then it would be all bad news for the relationship. The male would have no confidence in his performance and the female would probably leave the male so she can be sexually satisfied. Sex should not be looked upon as something that has to be tolerated, it should be something that is agreed upon and both people want it.
In the reading about Belkins essay "Opt Out" it talked about how women were educated and were quitting their jobs to take care of their family. I feel like a women should not have to feel obligated to stay home and take care of the family. That is a lot to ask for and you would never see a male quit their job to take care of the family. It just isn't fair that a women should even have to think of losing her career to take care of her family. It seems like all the responsibility is on the women to make things work. Men and women need to work together as equals and opposed to one dominating the other.

Globalization is a good thing to me. Without globalization the world would be boring. We wouldn't have different fashion styles or ideas, and we would be oblivious to the world around us. We would know nothing about our surrounding countries like South America or Canada and we would be unable to understand their history and tradition. It is true that globalization does take advantage of lower class workers, but even though this is the case it still gives that worker an opportunity it wouldn't have in their home country. Sometimes the conditions are so bad that any job is worth having and that is why I feel like globalization is a great thing.
The Coalition Against Trafficking in Women tells people about the issues of having women in the sex trade. It was found in 1988 to prevent the abuse of women and girls around the globe. I feel like this is a gender cause because it is wrong that women are being sold as slaves to sick men in the world for sex acts and other activities that are illegal. Most or nearly all the people involved in the sex trade are females and most are young and I feel like this is a major issue that needs to be solved. If this group could get funding to promote its cause, I feel like people would listen and take action. The sex trade is a nasty thing that is going on and there needs to be an end to it now.
