Blog 4

My major is finance/accounting. I would like to be an investment banker or be an auditor. I am still open though to doing other things and learning what I love to do, but I really love business and I see myself working in a big company in the finance or accounting division. Many of the course offerings for women's studies are interesting, but I do not know if they would have a direct impact on my major, but would be useful to take so I could be open to current issues that are relevant in today's world.

Classes such as Human Sexuality and Sociology of Family and Gender seem like they would be interesting classes to take. I do not know how much gender will play a role in my job because I feel like it is based on merit, but there is always other factors that will come into play. I honestly believe in my field that everyone, male or female, has an equal chance to do the same jobs.

My work history includes many jobs, I have worked at Champs the shoe store and seen the different aspects in regards to sales. I have been a waiter and realized that many female waitresses make more money in tips because a guy will tip a cute girl more money than a woman tipping a guy that was their waiter. I feel like men have less self control when it comes to their sexual urges. Women seem to handle their temptations better and do not lust as much. I am probably over generalizing because there are always exceptions, but I feel for the most part this is true.

As far as the readings go I feel like women should be focused on gender equality and feel like that is a good goal to try to achieve. Everyone deserves equality and should not be stereotyped or denied the same rights because they have a vagina and not a penis.
